South Africa will get to play the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the final round of the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers after edging past Tanzania 4-0 on aggregate in the penultimate round.
Banyana Banyana thumped the Twiga Stars 3-0 in the first leg in Dar es Salaam and were very much of control of control of proceedings at the Mbombela Stadium.
Tanzania had put the ball in the back of the net in the 37th minute to give themselves hope of a comeback but it was ruled out for offside.
South Africa put the game beyond doubt when 2018 African Women’s Football of the Year Thembi Kgatlana struck in the 58th minute.
Substitute Lebohang Ramalepe tried to double Banyana’s lead in the 70th minute but her effort hit the side netting.
Full-time!
It’s a victory in the second leg.
We face Nigeria next in the CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifiers 4th Round!
The job is not done!????????????????
