Barakat Oyinlomo Quadre kept Nigeria’s hopes of a medal in the women’s tennis singles alive after overcoming Gabon’s Avome Ella Celestine 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets in the round of 16 at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
The 20-year-old, who is the highest ranked Nigerian in the WTA rankings, was too dominant for the Gabonese, as she powered her way into the quarter-finals of the event.
Oyinlomo Quadre has bagelled her way into the quarter finals after a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over Gabonese Avome Ella Celestine in the round of 16 of the women’s singles.

Quadre is the only Nigerian left in the tennis singles event, following the exits of Adesuwa Osabuohien and Christopher Bulus earlier in the day.
She will be in action in the last eight on Tuesday, March 19.
