The Nigerian women’s cricket team claimed the first-ever bronze medal at the African Games after overcoming Uganda by three wickets at the Achimota Oval in Accra on Wednesday.
The Yellow Greens opted to bowl first after wining the toss and were able to restrict Uganda to a total of 76 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
The solid partnership between Salome Sunday and Abigail Igbobie helped in stabilising the team after losing three wickets within the first three overs, eventually guiding the team to 58 runs for three wickets in 16.2 overs.
Lucky Piety also showed great composure as she sent the first two balls for back-to-back boundaries.
