Head coach of the Falconets, Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s team, Chris Danjuma, has listed twenty (20) players to represent the country in the women’s football event at the 2023 African Games slated for Accra, Ghana.
Danjuma selected defender and captain Oluchi Ohaegbulem, goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, midfielder Adoo Yina, and forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu as part of his final squad list as the Falconets look to defend the title they won in 2019.
Nigeria won the gold medal in the women’s football tournament at the 12th edition of the African Games in Rabat, Morocco, in 2019.
Danjuma has also named goalkeeper Faith Omilana, defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Jumoke Alani, midfielders Chioma Olise and Olushola Shobowale, and forwards Blessing Okpe and Judith Okah to the squad.
Drawn in Group B, the Falconets will face Morocco, Senegal, and Cameroon as they battle for a place in the next round, with the group matches set to take place at the Cape Coast Stadium.
