Zamalek lifted the CAF Confederation Cup for the second time after defeating RS Berkane 1-0 in Sunday’s final second leg.
The Egyptian giants lost the first leg in Morocco 2-1 but were going to be able to triumph on away goals if they won by a lone goal on home soil in the return leg.
That turned out to be the exact outcome as Ahmed Hamdi’s 23rd minute effort made the difference at the Cairo International stadium.
The game ended with Berkane being reduced to 10 men after Hamza El Moussaoui received a red card in the second minute of nine additional minutes.
It turned out to be a nervy conclusion to the game with added time stretching to 14 minutes but Zamalek were able to hold on for the all important victory.

The White Knights previously triumphed in the Confederation Cup in 2019 when they also defeated Berkane but on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline across the two legs.
