Former Golden Eaglets captain Yahaya Lawali says he is excited with his move to Czech Republic side MFK Karvina and is looking forward to excelling in a new environment, Afrosport reports.
The defender recently completed a move from Mahanaim FC Abuja and signed a four-year deal.
In an interview with The PUNCH, the 18-year-old said: “Part of my dreams and visions is to take my game to the next level, and Mahanaim FC Abuja pushed me to another enabling football environment like MFK Karvina. Joining this team will provide me with an opportunity to express myself globally, and I will not take this chance for granted.
“Football in Africa is different from what we have in Europe; with the little time spent here, I believe I am in the right place to succeed professionally. Special thanks to Mahanaim Football, my family, and my friends, who have been a set of support systems right from my days on the streets of Kaduna, Abuja, etc.”
The defender via his official X handle also penned an emotional farewell to Mahanaim FC, acknowledging the club’s impact on his growth.

At the 2023 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria, Lawali won the Man-of-the-Match award in two group-stage games against Zambia and Morocco.
The Golden Eaglets were however eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing 2-1 to Burkina Faso.
