Nigeria will face Canada for their opening Group B match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on Friday.

The game between the Super Falcons and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics champions will be the second Group B game after Australia pipped the Republic of Ireland to a 1-0 victory.

Friday morning’s match will be the first competitive match for the Super Falcons since their 1-0 loss to Zambia in the third-place match of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last July.

The Super Falcons will play Canada in their Group B fixture on Friday, July 21 by 3:30 am (Nigerian time). There will also be a repeat broadcast at 8am (Nigerian time).

The match will take place at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Australia.

The most recent match between the two countries ended in a 2-2 draw in an international friendly in April 2022. The last time they played in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria came out victorious by 1-0 in Germany 2011.
