Nigeria will square off against England in the round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in on Monday morning.

The Super Falcons are aiming to match their best finish in the quadrennial tournament after securing second-place in Group B with five points, behind Australia.

Nigeria have only reached the quarter-final stage in the Women’s World Cup history and would need to overcome England’s hurdles in Brisbane to equal the stage they reached in 1999.

The Lionesses of England finished atop of Group E, scoring eight goals in the process and conceded just once in their final group fixture against China.

 

When and where is England vs Nigeria match?

The match between the reigning European champions and the 11-time African champions will take place on Monday, August 7 by 8.30 am (Nigerian Time) at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Head-to-head record

England and Nigeria have played each other on three occasions, with the Super Falcons winning two of those games.

The two countries only met once in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which was back in 1995 and Lionesses came out victorious with a 3-2 win while Nigeria’s previous two wins came in international friendly games in 2002 (1-0) and 2004 (3-0).
