The Super Falcons secured a morale-boosting 8-1 victory against Australia club, Lions FC in a friendly game ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Saturday’s morning game in the Australian city of Gold Coast was the first Randy Waldrum’s ladies were involved in a game since their 3-0 win against New Zealand in April.
Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala led the emphatic win with brace while Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade, Halimatu Ayinde, Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu scored a goal each.
The game is part of Nigeria’s preparations for the Women’s World Cup that will start on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand.
The Super Falcons are in Group B of the competition against co-hosts Australia, Tokyo 2020 Olympics champions Canada and debutants Republic of Ireland.
The 11-time African champions have been training in Australia since they left Nigeria on July 2 after a send-off dinner organised by the Nigeria Football Federation.
