Newly-appointed Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has labelled Matheus Cunha a “top player” after he helped the team to a 2-0 win over Manchester United on Boxing Day, Afrosport reports.
The Brazilian forward scored and assisted to hand Wolves back-to-back wins after a four-game losing streak which ultimately cost Gary O’Neil his job.
Reflecting on Cunha, Pereira said: “He’s a top player. He’s a special player. He can do things that can make the difference in the small details.

The Portuguese tactician went to highlight how communication within team has kept them connected.
“Of course, we analyse every match, and all the staff try to understand the movements or the spaces that we can explore,” the former FC Porto boss added.
“We try to not allow them to do it against us. This is football, sometimes it happens, other times no. With this kind of player, the things can happen.
“About leadership, I’m discovering day by day the leaders inside the team. I feel that they are connected. They are in communication. They want to do something and change the things. This is important.”
Wolves’ victory took them out of the relegation zone and are one point above Leicester City in 17th place.
