Yoane Wissa has been met a new setback in his hope of making his debut for Newcastle United after head coach revealed he will now be out for eight weeks, Afrosport reports.
The DR Congo forward was a transfer deadline day signing from Brentford but picked up an injury on international duty last month.
Howe previously revealed Wissa will out for six weeks with the hope of making his return after the October International break.
The Magpies boss however stated he will be out for a further two weeks after meeting with a specialist on Thursday.
“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee,” Howe said ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.
“We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six. No recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”

This means Wissa will remain sidelined until Newcastle’s league trip to West Ham on November 2.
The Tyneside outfit lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal last Sunday before defeating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
