Wan-Bissaka: Man United full-back sidelined for several weeks due to injury

Manchester United have announced that Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining an injury in Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old Anglo-Congolese right-back came on in the final five minutes of the match against the Seagulls after battling with illness during the course of the international break.

Prior to the Brighton game, Wan-Bissaka had started every Premier League match and was the preferred choice at right-back over Diogo Dalot until the versatile Portuguese full-back moved to the left due to Luke Shaw’s long-term injury.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during the closing stages of Saturday’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion,” read a statement on the club website.

“The right-back came on as an 85th-minute substitute, having started the game on the bench after battling illness during the week.

“Further assessment will be needed to determine how long Wan-Bissaka will be out for, but initial indications suggest it will be several weeks.”

Wan-Bissaka adds to a growing list of injured players that manager Ten Hag will be without. These include new signings Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat, Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, Tom Heaton and Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo.

The Red Devils will be put the to test once again when they tackle Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
