The Confederation of African Football has shifted the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to July 2025.
The foremost African women’s football competition was initially lined up for July 2024 in Morocco but has been moved by a year due to a congested women’s football calendar.
Nigeria and Zambia will represent Africa in the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics which will run from July 25 to August 10.
The Super Falcons and the Cooper Queens are expected to begin preparations for the competition late June.
After the Olympics, the qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League is lined up to commence and it will be followed by the tournament.
WAFCON 2024 will now take place from July 5 to July 26, 2025 with all 12 teams confirmed.
The rescheduled WAFCON is to help all participating teams have ample preparation time and also allow for maximum participation and viewership.
South Africa are the defending champions and the other qualified teams are Nigeria, Zambia, Tunisia, DR Congo, Algeria, Ghana, Botswana, Senegal, Tanzania, Mali and hosts Morocco.
