Real Madrid have announced that Vinicius Junior has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg, Afrosport reports.
The Brazilian superstar and 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up played from start to finish in Los Blancos’ 3-0 La Liga win at Leganes on Sunday, assisting the opening goal for Kylian Mbappe.
It is however unknown how long he will be sidelined for but most certainly looks likely to miss Champions League trip to Liverpool on Wednesday.
“Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” read a statement on the club website.
Vinicius Junior has been in scintillating form for Real Madrid this season with 12 goals and eight assists in 18 competitive games.
He joins the growing injury list for manager Carlo Ancelotti which includes David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Lucas Vazquez, Rodrygo and Aurelien Tchouameni.
