Remo Stars defeated Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) debutants Ikorodu City 2-1 on Wednesday to win the 2024 Valuejet Cup off-season tournament.
Seth Mayi broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when he headed home Ibrahim Abubakar’s cross.
Mayi then added to the tally by tapping in a rebound in the 68th minute.
Ikorodu City’s consolation came in the first minute of added time through an exquisitely executed header courtesy Otaniyi Taofeek.
The consolation however came too late, as Remo Stars defended resolutely for the remainder of the game to claim the first silverware in the off-season.
