Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa on Thursday left the team’s training camp in London, a day after their win over Ghana in the Unity Cup 2025, Afrosport reports.
Nigeria claimed a 2-1 win over West African rivals Ghana at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday, with Musa coming on as a second-half substitute
The 32-year-old, who returned to the Super Eagles setup for the first time since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), reportedly exited the team’s base due to personal reasons.
He enjoyed a fruitful first season back at Nigerian club Kano Pillars, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 23 appearances in the just-concluded Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Eric Chelle’s men will play the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the tournament’s final on Saturday, 31 May, with the Black Stars facing Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place match.
However, Brentford’s U21 Player’s Player of the Season, Benjamin Fredrick, was pictured in the Super Eagles camp on Thursday.
The former Flying Eagles defender was not listed in the initial squad for the Unity Cup, and it is left to see the role he would play in the team going forward.
Meanwhile, midfielder Christantus Uche and goalkeeper Amas Obasogie have been ruled out of the Unity Cup final.
The two players missed Nigeria’s opening game against Ghana’s Black Stars and will both be unavailable for their clash against Jamaica.
Uche reportedly failed to make the trip to London due to personal reasons, while former Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Obasogie was unable to secure a visa.
