UEL: Gabon’s Aubameyang sends warning to Atalanta ahead of semi-final clash

Gabonese forward Aubameyang stars as Marseille thump Lyon

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has offered a warning to Atalanta ahead of the anticipated UEFA Europa League semi-final with Olympique Marseille at Stade Velodrome on Thursday night.

The Italians caused a big upset in the quarter-finals when they knocked out Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate, winning 3-0 at Anfield.

The result took many by surprise as Anfield is seen as a fortress and Aubameyang asserted that the atmosphere at the Velodrome will be bigger.

“Anfield? I can guarantee at 200% that the Velodrome atmosphere is exceptional,” the experienced forward told La Gazzetta dello Sport as per Football Italia.

“It’s unmatched, especially on European nights, and it will be like this against Atalanta tomorrow. We’ll have 60,000 fans pushing us and, as we did with Villarreal, we want to pump up the fans and involve them in the opening stages.

Aubameyang added that he wants to make it to the Europa League final once again having lost in 2019 with Arsenal to London rivals Chelsea.

“When I was at Arsenal in 2019, I lost a Europa League Final against Chelsea, and now, I want to qualify again and try to win it,” the Gabonese continued.

“European cups are in Marseille DNA and in mine as well. I love to play in these competitions. Atalanta are a tough opponent. Our position in the table mirrors a very strange season, with highs and lows, but I can guarantee that we are highly motivated and we’ll leave everything on the pitch to reach the Dublin Final.”

Aubameyang is the top scorer in the Europa League this season with 10 goals in 11 appearances and 27 in all competitions.
