UEL: Gabon’s Aubameyang scores in Marseille draw with Shakhtar Donetsk

UECL: Algeria’s Chaibi & Amoura involved in the goals between Eintracht Frankfurt & Union Saint-Gilloise

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on target in Olympique Marseille’s 2-2 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout playoffs on Thursday night.

The Gabon international has had a knack for scoring in the European second tier competition this season and he did so for the sixth time in as many games by giving Marseille the lead in the 64th minute with a clinical finish off Jonathan Clauss’ assist.

Mykola Matviilenko equalised for Shakhtar four minutes later with scores remaining level until the 90th minute when Senegal forward Iliman Ndiaye struck to give Marseille the lead back.

The French side could however not leave Volksparkstadion with the win as Eguinaldo equalised in the third minute of added time to keep things balanced heading into next Thursday’s return leg at the Stade Velodrome.
