Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has received his first England call-up in seven years by interim manager Lee Carsley, Afrosport reports.
The 27-year-old, who has netted three goals in his last three appearances for Spurs, will get the chance to add to his solitary England cap earned in 2017 when the Three Lions face Greece and Finland in the UEFA Nations League this month.
Meanwhile, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been omitted from the squad by Carsley
The 50-year-old, who continues to lead the team while the FA searches for a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate, explained Maguire’s exclusion, noting that the defender’s injury during United’s loss to Tottenham last weekend contributed to the decision.
“Harry was very positive during our conversation,” he said per Sky Sports, referencing Maguire’s involvement in last month’s win over the Republic of Ireland. “We have a lot of strong centre-backs eager to play, and Harry still has a crucial role to play in this campaign.”
Along with Solanke, England’s squad for the Nations League fixtures includes returning players like Jude Bellingham and Kyle Walker, while Solanke’s Spurs teammate James Maddison, along with Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze, has been left out.
The Three Lions, who sit second in their Nations League group, will host Greece at Wembley on October 10 before traveling to Finland for their next match on October 13.
