UECL: Chelsea boss Maresca wary of Legia Warsaw home advantage

UCL: Hansi Flick highlights Barcelona problem despite win over Dortmund

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is wary of the edge Legia Warsaw will have with home support when the Blues travel to the Polish capital for their UEFA Conference League quarter-final first leg on Thursday, Afrosport reports.

The Blues are considered favourites to lift the title and topped the league phase with a 100% record before going past FC Copenhagen in the round of 16.

Legia meanwhile finished seventh in the league phase and got the better of Norwegian side Molde in the round of 16 with a 4-3 aggregate win after extra time.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Warsaw, Maresca said: “When the environment is the one that probably we have tomorrow or the one that I mentioned after Tottenham game at home, it’s nice because you have the feeling that you play with an extra player.”

“This is the reason why many times we said the fans they are the 12 players. It’s because you feel that and probably tomorrow night they’re going to have this kind of extra player but we need to be good enough to manage that situation.”

The winner of this tie will face either Swedish side Djurgarden or Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna.
