UECL: Antony stars as Real Betis set up final clash with Chelsea

Antony was at his stellar best in a Real Betis shirt once again after scoring a goal and providing an assist in the 2-2 draw and 4-3 aggregate victory over Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg on Thursday night, Afrosport reports.

The Brazilian winger has earned rave reviews since joining the Spanish side on loan from Manchester United in January.

After scoring in the 2-1 win at home in the first leg, the 25-year-old opened proceedings in the return leg at the Artemio Franchi with an audacious free kick on the half hour mark.

It extended the goal involvement tally of Antony in all competitions to eight goals and five assists in 21 games, four of the goals and three of the assists coming in the Conference League.


Fiorentina, two-time Conference League runners-up however found their way back with a brace from former Inter Milan and Atalanta full-back Robin Gosens to level the tie 3-3 on aggregate.

The game went to extra time and Antony was decisive again as he laid the ball for Morocco winger Abde Ezzalzouli in the 97th minute to put Betis in front on aggregate and ultimately win the game.


The Andalusian outfit have qualified for their first-ever European final and will meet Conference League favourites Chelsea who defeated Djurgarden of Sweden 1-0, courtesy of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Blues won the tie 5-1 on aggregate.
