Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman scored and assisted as Atalanta secured a 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in matchday two in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Nigeria international provided Atalanta’s opener in the 21st minute before getting on the scoresheet himself, 23 minutes later, as the Italian side recorded their first win in Europe this season.

Lookman looked in the mood from kick off with his first attempt going just wide in the 11th minute.
The former Leicester City and Fulham forward soon got into the mix again as his pin-point cross found Albania international Berat Djimsiti, with the defender breaking the deadlock for La Dea.
The Serie A club came close to doubling their lead shortly after through Lookman but his effort was denied by the crossbar.
Atalanta’s Europa League hero wouldn’t be denied a second time as he scored in the 44th minute. After a sustained attack, Lookman received the ball in the middle of Shaktar’s box before firing it into the back of the net beating goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk.
Gian Pero Gasperini’s men got their third goal, three minutes into the second half through Raoul Bellanova, whose glancing header from a Davide Zappacosta cross was too much for Riznyk.
Lookman, who was replaced by Italian forward Mateo Retegui, got a resounding applause from fans inside the Veltins-Arena, as he made his way to the bench.
The Italians currently have four points after two matches and will next be in action in the Champions League when they host Celtic on October 23, at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
