Real Madrid get Chelsea in Champions League draw

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set for a reunion with his former Premier League club when the reigning UEFA Champions League winners battle Chelsea in the quarter-final.

Los Blancos were emphatic winners in the Round of 16, thrashing another Premier League side in Liverpool, 6-2 on aggregate. The Blues, however, had it all to do in their own match against Borussia Dortmund, whom they overcame 2-1 on aggregate after losing the first leg. They will now have to contend with the 14-time European Champions in a rematch of last season’s last eight tie.

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen and his Napoli teammates will face Serie A rivals AC Milan in an all-Italian affair.

The Partenopei defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0 on aggregate to progress to the next round, while the Rossoneri had to struggle to emerge as 1-0 winners over Tottenham Hotspur.

In the other quarterfinals, Inter Milan were drawn against Portuguese highflyers Benfica.

The Nerazzurri narrowly saw off another Portuguese side in FC Porto 1-0, while the Eagles put in a dominant display against Club Brugge in the previous round, winning 7-1 on aggregate.

Also, in a battle between two title favourites, six-time winners Bayern Munich will do battle against Manchester City, whom many tip to win the prestigious trophy.

The Bavarians saw off star-studded Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 over two legs, while the Citizens put up a historic performance to overcome another German side in RB Leipzig 8-1 on aggregate, with Erling Haaland netting five goals in the 7-0 triumph in the second leg.

The fixture will potentially see a lot of reunions, with City boss Pep Guardiola set to face his former club; Joao Cancelo, who is currently on loan in the Bavarian capital, facing his parent club; and Leroy Sane reuniting with the Citizens after having plied his trade with the Manchester-based side between 2016 and 2020.

The first leg of the quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, April 11, and Wednesday, April 12, with the return legs taking place a week later.
