Victor Osimhen scored the only goal from the penalty spot as Galatasaray recorded a vital 1-0 win over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.
The 26-year-old sent Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson the wrong way from 12 yards, slotting his spot-kick into the centre of the goal after Dominik Szoboszlai brought down Baris Yilmaz in the box.

The Turkish giants were quick off the block, with Yilmaz forcing Alisson into an early save inside the opening two minutes at RAMS Park.
Liverpool responded quickly with goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakır denying Hugo Ekitike from close-range, while Cody Gakpo’s follow-up effort was cleared off the line by Senegal international Ismail Jakobs.
The hosts quickly turned defence into attack and were awarded a penalty after Yilmaz was caught in the face by a flailing arm from Szoboszlai. Osimhen converted the resulting kick and became the first Nigerian in history to score 10 Champions League goals.
Cakir was forced into another sharp save by Florian Wirtz, whose half volley was repelled by the Turkish goalkeeper before the break. After the restart, the Galatasaray shot-stopper denied Ekitike’s cheeky backheel effort from close-range to keep the Istanbul giants in the lead.
Osimhen should have doubled his side’s lead shortly after, but the Nigeria international failed to beat Alisson, who made a fine stop.

Liverpool threw bodies forward in the dying embers and were rewarded with a penalty in the 88th minute following a collision between Ibrahima Konate and Ivorian fullback Wilfried Singo. However, referee Clement Turpin overturned the call following a quick VAR review.
Galatasaray held on for a famous win and secured maximum points to bounce back from their humiliating opening day defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Liverpool, meanwhile, lost their second game in four days.
Okan Buruk’s men will turn their attention to the Turkish Super Lig with a heavyweight clash against Besiktas awaiting, while Arne Slot’s side will make a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League.
