UCL: Kompany uninterested in Bayern Munich’s position in league phase standings

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is not interested in his side’s position in the UEFA Champions League standings after their 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, Afrosport reports.

The Bavarian giants made it back-to-back wins after consecutive losses to Aston Villa and Barcelona which has moved them up to 11th on the new league phase standings.

Bayern are just two points shy of the automatic qualification places into the round of 16 and Kompany hopes to see that winning momentum going.

“Firstly, I am not looking at the standings because I don’t really understand them yet, honestly,” the former Burnley boss said.

“I hope that at some stage it will look good for us especially if we continue winning games. It’s important for me that we get to that goal.

“I think it’s easy. We just want to win every game and it works out we should have a good chance of making it into the top eight. Further than that, nothing else that we can talk about.”

Bayern will conclude their league phase campaign with fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk, Feyenoord and Slovan Bratislava.
