UCL: Hakimi confident in PSG victory over Barcelona despite injury crisis

UCL: Man City coach Guardiola makes admission on Rodri’s fitness

Morocco full-back Achraf Hakimi is confident Paris Saint-Germain can claim victory over Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday despite a series of injuries in the team, Afrosport reports.

The French giants are currently without current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele as well as Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia while Joao Neves only just returned to fitness.

Hakimi speaking ahead of the match at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, believes the team still have players that can hand them the desired result.

“It doesn’t change things much. They are very important players for us. But I don’t think it will change things much. We have a very good team,” the former Real Madrid player said.

“We have many teammates ready to play this type of game. And the coach will decide who will play. But I think we have the players we need to win. And we are ready.”

He added: “I have very nice memories from here. Last time I played here we won. I hope we will win as well. But I know it will be a very tough match. we have in front of us a team with great players.

“They have the same style of play. I know we are okay, and in good dynamics. I think it will be a very nice game to play and also to watch for all people who love football.”

The game will see PSG manager Luis Enrique reunite with his former club who he coached between 2014 and 2017, winning the treble in 2015. He also played for the Catalan giants between 1996 and 2004.

PSG and Barcelona met in last season’s Champions League quarter-finals, with the Parisians winning 6-4 on aggregate en route lifting the title.
