Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been declared fit to play in Club Brugge’s Champions League round of 16 first leg clash against Aston Villa on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen has given Onyedika the nod for selection after the Nigeria international sustained an injury during a league clash against Standard Liege last month.
The 23-year-old missed Club Brugge’s tie against Gent last weekend due to a thigh injury, but Hayen confirmed the midfielder trained with the rest of the team on Monday ahead of their home clash against Aston Villa.
“He trained on Monday. In principle he can play,” Hayen told a press conference ahead of the game.
Hayen also named Onyedika to the 22-man shortlist for the encounter against Villa at the Jan Breydelstadion.
Onyedika, who has scored once in the Champions League this season, was an injury scare for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who are gearing up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.
Nigeria will visit Rwanda on 21 March before hosting Zimbabwe four days later in Uyo, with Onyedika expected to be called up by new coach Eric Chelle.
