Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that the Red Devils cannot play the way Sporting Lisbon does, Afrosport reports.
The Portuguese tactician masterminded a 4-1 win over Manchester City on Tuesday night which drew a lot of attention for their impressive display.
Amorim will resume his new role at Old Trafford next Monday but has sounded a warning that the Red Devils will not be a replica of Sporting.
“What I can tell you is that this doesn’t mean anything in particular – don’t take anything from this. We cannot transport one reality to another,” he said.
“Manchester United cannot play the way we play. They cannot play so defensively, and we will have to adapt ourselves. Of course, it is very difficult to beat Manchester City…This doesn’t mean anything. When I arrive in Manchester I will be living in a different world. It will be a different team.
“We will have to start from a certain point. I would say to Manchester people that we had luck on our side. This was a month off, and when I arrive in Manchester I will assess the situation, the context will be different.”
