The Falconets are gearing up their preparations for their 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup round of 16 tie with Japan in Bogota, Afrosport reports.
Nigeria have only recorded one loss in Colombia, which was against Germany, while coming off with 1-0 and 4-0 victories over South Korea and Venezuela.
The Japanese meanwhile, have a strong reputation in women’s football and will be looking to build on that against Nigeria after topping Group E with a 100% record ahead of Austria, Ghana and New Zealand.
While fans will be pondering how far the Falconets can go in Colombia, head coach Christopher Danjuma Esther wants to take it one game at a time.
“The girls have worked very hard to get to this stage, and we are proud of their efforts,” he said.
“We will be taking the knockout stages one match at a time. I must tell you that we are excited at the prospects of facing Japan and what that brings forth,”
