The Gambia U-20 national team got off to a winning start at the 2023 U-20 FIFA World Cup as they saw off Honduras 2-1 in Group F on Monday while Tunisia lost to 1-0 to England in Group E.
The Young Scorpions came into the tournament with hopes of impressing having done so at U-20 Africa Cup of Nations where they finished as runners-up to neighbours Senegal.
They wasted no time at the Mendoza Stadium with star forward Adama Bojang firing in a powerful strike less than 30 seconds into the game.
It did not take too long for Honduras to respond as Marco Aceituno leveled things up in the fifth minute with a fine header.

It remained 1-1 until the 84th minute when Bojang made it a brace, tapping in with ease from his rebounded header via a corner kick.
In the Group E encounter between England and Tunisia, Dane Scarlett’s 25th header was the difference in La Plata.
