Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn in Group F of the U20 FIFA World Cup slated to take place in Chile later this year, Afrosport reports.
The 24 qualifying nations have been drawn into six groups of four teams each.
Nigeria, placed in Pot 2 ahead of Thursday night’s draw in Santiago, Chile, will battle 2003 bronze medallist Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Norway in the group stage.
The Flying Eagles, who recently finished third at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt earlier this month, are two-time silver medallists at the biennial tournament.
Meanwhile, African champions South Africa are in Group E alongside the United States, 2013 winners France and New Caledonia.
Morocco, runners-up at the U20 AFCON, are in the “Group of Death”, having been drawn in Group C alongside five-time winners Brazil, 1999 champions Spain and Mexico, who finished second in 1977 and third in 2011.
Egypt, meanwhile, will play tournament hosts Chile in Group A, which also has New Zealand and Japan.
Group B, however, comprises 2019 winners Ukraine, Korea Republic (runners-up in 2019), Paraguay and Panama.
Record winners Argentina, who have six titles, are in Group D along with Australia, Cuba and Italy, runners-up in the last edition in 2023.
