U20 WAFU B: NFF releases Flying Eagles 20-man squad to Togo

U-20 AFCON: CAF appoints Libyan referee for Nigeria and Gambia clash

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, announced a 20-man squad to represent the country at this month’s U20 WAFU B Championship in Togo, Afrosport reports.

The Flying Eagles team consists of three goalkeepers, five defender, four midfielder and eight forwards, which includes some regulars like captain Daniel Bameyi, Ibrahim Olalekan, Charles Agada, and Nathaniel Nwosu.

Meanwhile, the Aliyu Zubairu-led side will be without influential Enyimba midfielder Daniel Daga, who was initially in the squad. However, the youngster will miss the tournament in Togo as he is unable to produce his international passport for the trip.

Daga, however, has been replaced by Niger Tornadoes midfielder Sabiu Ibrahim, and five players, who are on standby, will accompany the team when they depart for Togo on Tuesday.

Nigeria, who are defending champions of the competition, are drawn in Group B alongside Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire. They will kick off their campaign against Burkina Faso on Friday, October 18, before taking on the Ivorians three days later.

The other four participating teams in the tournament are drawn in Group A, which includes hosts Togo, Ghana, Niger Republic, Benin Republic.

The U20 WAFU B tournament commences on Thursday, 17th October 2024, with hosts Togo taking on Niger at the Kegue Stadium in Lomé.
