Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will take on Senegal in the quarter-finals at the ongoing under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Afrosport reports.
Senegal clinched a spot in the last eight following a 2-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo in their final group game on Thursday.
The win ensured the defending champions finished second in Group C with four points, three less than group winners Ghana’s Black Satellites.
The Flying Eagles, meanwhile, will take on the Young Teranga Lions at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismaila on Monday, 12 May, with kick off set for 1 p.m. Nigeria Time.
Both Nigeria and Senegal met in the group stage at the last edition of the U20 AFCON in 2023, with the latter claiming a 1-0 win.
The two teams will battle for a place in the semifinals, with the winner progressing to the last four and also securing a berth at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, set for 27 September – 19 October.
