U17 WWC: Flamingos arrive Pretoria for South Africa qualifying tie

Nigeria’s women’s under-17 team, the Flamingos, arrived in Pretoria on Thursday morning ahead of the first leg of their 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second round qualifiers against South Africa, Afrosport reports.

The Flamingos touched down at OR Tambo International Airport, in the South African capital city, where they met four-time African Player of the Year and President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o.

Bankole Olowookere’s ladies are in action against Bantwana on Saturday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria at 2 p.m. Nigerian Time, with the South African Football Federation (SAFA) revealing the game is toll-free for fans.

The two rivals will link up for the reverse fixture at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday, 15 March.

The winner on aggregate will progress to the final qualifying round to take on either Botswana or Algeria.

The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is set for Morocco from 17 October to 8 November, with a newly expanded 24-team format.
