Nigeria and Burkina Faso will renew their West African rivalry in the quarter-final of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria on Thursday night.
The winner of the encounter at the Nelson Mandela Stadium will automatically qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year and will also face Senegal in the semi-final of the ongoing competition.
Nigeria finished their group stage outing as Group B runners-up, the same as the Burkina Babes in Group C after beating Cameroon in their three-team group.
Head-to-Head record
The last time Nigeria and Burkina Faso faced each other in the age-grade tournament was in the 2022 WAFU B U-17 Championship in Ghana which was the regional qualifier for the U17 AFCON.
The Golden Eaglets emerged victorious with Abubakar Abdullahi scoring a brace to give them a 2-1 result.
Competition record
Burkina Faso lifted their first and only U17 AFCON title in 2011 while the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are two-time winners.
In Algeria so far, Nigeria have won two and lost one of their opening three games with four goals scored and three conceded.
