U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles boss Zubairu names 30 players for Egypt friendlies

2023 African Games: Flying Eagles start on losing note against Uganda

Aliyu Zubairu, head coach of Nigeria’s under-20 men’s team, the Flying Eagles, has invited 30 players to camp ahead of two friendly games against Egypt this month, Afrosport reports.

The Flying Eagles, according to Team Administrator Aliyu Lawal, will take on the Young Pharaohs in Cairo, Egypt, in two friendly matches scheduled to take place on 25 and 27 February.

The seven-time African champions won the WAFU-B U20 Championship in Lome, Togo, in October, beating Ghana’s Black Satellites 3-1 to book a place in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The U20 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire will take place from 26 April to 18 May, with 13 teams to be drawn in three groups. The first group will comprise five teams, while the other two groups will have four teams each.

The four semi-finalists from the tournament will represent the continent at the U20 FIFA World Cup finals in Chile, scheduled for 27 September to 19 October.
