The Gambia’s under-20 manager, Abdoulie Bojang, has called on his team to maintain their form following their 1-0 win over Tunisia in Group C of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s victory at the Alexandria Stadium came courtesy of Alagie Saine’s 84th-minute strike, which gave the West Africans early control of the group. The Young Scorpions previously faced the young Carthage Eagles during the bronze medal game at the last U-20 AFCON in Mauritania and needed penalties to edge past the North Africans.
It was a game Bojang was clearly pleased with as his side had the larger share of chances and possession.

“We had difficulties at the start of the match but we were able to pull ourselves together quickly,” Bojang said on the CAF website.
“It’s an important victory for us, winning the first match was a necessity. I am very happy.
“It is a group of young players mobilized for the goal.
“It was fantastic what they did, we have to continue this momentum.”
Gambia’s next fixture will be against 2017 U-20 AFCON champions Zambia and another three points will see them comfortably through to the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
