Head coach of Nigeria women’s under-17 team, Bankole Olowookere, has called out for fans support ahead of their opening match in the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled to begin in Dominican Republic, Afrosport reports
The Flamingos, drawn in Group A, will open the tournament with a tough test against New Zealand at the Estadio Cibao in Santiago on Wednesday night.
Oloowokere wrote on social media: “We will begin our campaign in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic against New Zealand today. We ask for the support of Nigerians to achieve success at the Mundial!”

The Flamingos, who finished third in the last edition of the tournament in India, will be looking to return to Nigeria with the title and they will be looking to kick off their campaign in their seventh outing at the U17 Women’s World Cup with a win.
The Olowookere-led side will also take on Ecuador in their second group game on Saturday, October 19, before locking horns against hosts Dominican Republic in the early hours of Wednesday, October 23.
