U17 AFCON: Golden Eaglets ready for tactical battle with Morocco

Niger U-17 coach Nduka Ugbade says a tactical battle will be on display when the Golden Eaglets take on Morocco in their second Group B game at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.

The Eaglets won their first game against Zambia 1-0 while the Moroccans triumphed over South Africa 2-0.

Wednesday’s clash in Constantine is therfore important as whoever can emerge victorious will be through to the quarter-finals.

Even though Ugbade admitted he is frightened about the threat Morocco poses, he is still out to secure maximum points for the team.

“It is going to be a very tough match and I must admit that I am very afraid of Morocco myself. But, we are going for just three things; win, win win,” Ugbade said ahead of the game.

“Morocco is a very good tactical side. I watched a bit of their match against South Africa and I was impressed with how they played. They defend very well and are tactically disciplined and very compact. We are going to see a very big tactical battle.”

Ugbade also acknowledged that his team need to cut down on errors and be more clinical in front if they are to defeat the Moroccans.

“Of course at this age group there are very many errors you expect from these players, but the most important thing for them is that they keep improving and doing better every game. Against Morocco we need to control the game better and also make the best use of our chances,” Ugbade stated.

The other Group B game on Wednesday will see Zambia and South Africa go up against each other also in Constantine.
