Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been banned for seven matches by the Football Association for racial slurs towards teammate Heung Min Son, Afrosport reports.
The 27-year-old Uruguayan midfielder made some comments about the South Korean that were deemed by the Football Association in England as offensive and a breach of their regulations.
In an interview when asked for a Tottenham shirt by a presenter he said “Sonny’s ?, it could be Sonny’s cousin too as they all look alike”
Bentancur took to social media to apologise for this saying it was a joke in bad taste and Tottenham teammate Heung Min Son has defended him saying he knows he would never intentionally say something offensive.
Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been banned for seven matches by The FA and fined £100,000 for a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview.
