Tottenham reportedly reopen interest in AC Milan’s Tomori

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reopened their interest in signing AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, Afrosport reports.

The reigning Europa League champions showed their interest in the England international of Nigerian heritage during the January transfer window when the club was facing a severe injury crisis, especially in defence, where Chrisitan Romero and Micky van de Ven were ruled out for most parts of the season while Radu Dragusin ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

According to The Times, the North London outfit are back in the hunt for Tomori, with technical director Johan Lange seeing him as a solid defensive option as the summer transfer window is now open.

New AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri reportedly prefers Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic as his centre-back duo, which will push Tomori down the pecking order at the San Siro.

The 27-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Chelsea initially on loan in January 2021 before it was made permanent that summer in a £25 million deal.

He has played 177 times in all competitions for Milan, scoring seven goals and providing three assists, while he won the Serie A title in his first full season and the Supercoppa Italiana back in January.

Tottenham have also been linked with Crystal Palace defender and FA Cup champion Marc Guehi, with reports suggesting that Tomori would be the target if a deal for the Abidjan-born player fails to materialise.
