Tennis: Ivanisevic parts ways with Rybakina after Australian Open exit

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic has ended his coaching stint with world number six Elena Rybakina following her Australian Open exit, Afrosport reports.

Ivanisevic began coaching the Kazakh in December 2024 on a trial basis after ending his five-year run as Novak Djokovic’s coach. Rybakina, on the other hand, ended her partnership with coach Stefano Vukov just days before the US Open.

Rybakina exited the Australian Open in the fourth round after suffering a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 defeat to American Madison Keys at Melbourne Park on Monday.

Ivanisevic, however, took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that he would not be continuing with the former Australian Open finalist.

“After our trial period that finished with the Australian Open, I wish Elena & her team the best of luck moving forward,” the Croatian wrote on Instagram.

Ivanisevic, who is the only player to win a Wimbledon singles title as a wild card, doing so in 2001 while ranked world No. 125, led Djokovic to victory in 12 of his 24 major wins.

Meanwhile, Rybakina recently revealed that she wanted to bring Vukov back to her team, despite the Croatian being provisionally suspended by the WTA.
