Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz could face Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles quarterfinals at Indiana Wells, while women’s singles champion Iga Swiatek could face Olympic gold medallist Qinwen Zheng.
Alcaraz, who is looking for an unprecedented three-peat could face Djokovic in a rematch of their Australian Open semifinal clash, which the Serbian won in January.
Djokovic is looking to become just the third man in history to claim 100 singles titles when the Indian Wells main draw kicks off on Wednesday in the California desert. The 37-year-old got a first-round bye and will face a qualifier or Australia’s Nick Kyrgios in his first game.
Other potential draws in the men’s quarter-final could see German top seed Alexander Zverev face Greek rival Stefanos Tsitsipas, 2022 champion and American Taylor Fritz could battle Russian Andrey Rublev, while back-to-back losing finalist Daniil Medvedev could face Casper Ruud in the final eight.
