Ten Hag to remain as Man United manager for 2024-25 season

2023-24 Premier League season: 3 winners and losers from the opening fixtures

Erik ten Hag will remain as manager of Manchester United for the 2024-25 season following the conclusion of a review by the club’s hierarchy.

The Dutch tactician led the Red Devils to the FA Cup title after defeating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley.

Despite the cup success, Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford was not guaranteed after United finished a dismal eighth in the Premier League with their lowest finish (eighth) and worst goal difference (-1), with suggestions he was going to be sacked regardless of the FA Cup final outcome.

The victory is however believed to have made the review, under the watch of minority owner Jim Radcliffe, to be seen in more positive light.

According to reports, former Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel, was on the radar for the United job but the German ruled himself out. There was also reported interest from Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi who recently departed Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively, while there were also links with Brentford manager Thomas Frank and England coach Gareth Southgate.

Ten Hag is in the the final year of his contract and the board are reportedly looking at extending the deal.
