Nathan Tella proved to be a catalyst once again as he played a crucial part in Bayer Leverkusen’s comeback 2-1 Bundesliga win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
The current leaders fell behind to Maximillian Beier’s opener in the 33rd minute and it looked like Leverkusen’s unbeaten run in the league was coming to an end.
However, Xabi Alonso’s men displayed their never-say-die attitude and equalised in the 88th minute thanks to Robert Andrich.
The comeback was complete when Tella assisted Patrik Schick for the winner, sending the BayArena into raptures.
It was the Nigeria international’s second Leverkusen assist this season after giving his first in the emphatic 3-0 win over Bayer Munich back in February.
Tella’s two Bundesliga assists are coupled with the five goals he has scored in 18 appearances, bringing his total to six goals and three assists in all competitions.
