Szoboszlai not dreaming of Premier League title with Liverpool yet

Dominik Szoboszlai is not dreaming of Liverpool winning the Premier League despite holding a 13-point advantage at the top of the table, Afrosport reports.

The Hungarian midfielder scored the first goal in a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday night while Arsenal played out a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Despite the big lead, Szoboszlai is focusing on each game as it comes.

“After mathematically they have no chance to get us! We are really happy to be 13 points clear, but we will focus on ourselves,” he told the club website.

“Now we have the Champions League coming up, so we will have to focus on this as well. Then game by game we are looking forward to staying at the top.”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot also echoed Szoboszlai’s thoughts, focusing on the Reds’ next outing in the UEFA Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.

“I don’t know because I don’t think that way. I think about Paris Saint-Germain already. What you don’t know but what I do know because I watched them against City, because we played City, and I’m impressed by the quality they have. I think they are in a similar run as we are – hardly lost any single game for a long time,” the Dutch tactician said.

“Though I’m not always correct in data because two days ago my son told me that I made a big, big, big mistake by saying Cristiano Ronaldo never played in the Premier League! So, I’m not sure if Paris Saint-Germain has the same run as ours but they are doing really well.

“So, my main focus is on Paris Saint-Germain. I forget the league table now, I forget the Premier League now until the moment we’ve played Paris Saint-Germain and then I will start to think about the Premier League again.”

Szoboszlai has scored five goals and provided three assists in the Premier this season while he has scored one goal and provided one assist in the Champions League.
