Super Falcons camp bubbles as interim boss Madugu excited with maximum capacity

WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Super Falcons edge closer with comfortable victory over Cape Verde

Super Falcons interim head coach, Justine Madugu, has expressed his happiness at the arrival of all 25 players invited for this month’s friendly matches against Algeria, Afrosport reports.

The nine-time African champions are gearing up for the double-header against the Desert Warriors, but their first training session at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, was cancelled as Tuesday’s heavy downpour prevented them from training as they all returned to their Eko Hotel & Towers base for gym sessions.

“I am very happy that all the invited players are here,” said Madugu, who is looking forward to his first game in charge of the team. “We will be able to have four days of full training sessions and be in great shape for the first game.

“We thank the Nigeria Football Federation for arranging these two games for the Super Falcons.”

The Super Falcons will take on the Algeria over two legs at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, with the first meeting set for Saturday, October 26, and the second one for Tuesday, October 29, at the same venue as both matches will kick off at 4pm.

Benin Republic’s quartet of Aurore Christine Ligan, Nafissatou Yekini Shitou, Sonia Emilie Louis and Laurande Offin will officiate the two matches, with Ligan serving as referee for the first match and Offin as fourth official, while the two of them will interchange their roles for the second match.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are expecting a 35-player delegation from Algeria to land in Nigeria on Thursday morning, with the Beninese match officials also scheduled to arrive in Lagos same day.

Meanwhile, the NFF has yet to appoint a match commissioner for each of the games, but will do so in due time.
