Super Eagles to play Russia, Ghana in June friendlies

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play two friendlies in June against Russia and Ghana, respectively, Afrosport reports.

Head coach Eric Chelle confirmed the international friendlies, adding that his attention will shift to preparations for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in July.

The Super Eagles will use the two friendly games as part of preprations for the next round of their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in September.

The dates for the two friendlies are yet to be confirmed but the two matches will come before the three-time African champions take on Rwanda at home and South Africa away in the World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles hit a bump in their chase for a ticket to the 2026 World Cup following Tuesday’s draw with Zimbabwe in Uyo, which has left them fourth in Group C with seven points after six games.
