Southampton receive Onuachu boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Calvin Bassey ruled out of Fulham trip to Liverpool

Southam have received a boost with the availability of Paul Onuachu ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at St. Mary’s, Afrosport reports.

The Nigerian forward has missed the Saints last three league matches due to injury but is available for selection in what is an important game in the quest for survival.

Southampton boss Russell Martin stated that the availability of Onuachu offers an alternate option for the team.

“Paul gives us a real alternative option that’s different to anyone in the squad and most people in the league actually, Martin said per the club website.

“He was really unfortunate at the timing of his injury as he was in such a good place and was going to really help us I think, and now he’s going to help us moving forwards.”

Onuachu has played six times for Southampton in the league this season but is yet to score.

The South Coast outfit are bottom of the standings with five points after 15 games and are eight points away from safety.
