Solanke nets brace as Tottenham come back to draw Man City at home

Dominic Solanke was the hero for Tottenham Hotspur as the scored a brace from two goals down against Manchester City to salvage at 2-2 draw in Sunday’s crunch Premier League encounter, Afrosport reports.

Spurs fell behind in the first half thanks to goals from Rayan Cherki and Ghana winger Antoine Semenyo, his third goal for the club since he joined from Bournemouth in this transfer window, and his second in the league.

Thomas Frank’s men were however not shaken by the deficit as Solanke pulled one back in the 53rd minute off an assist from Xavi Simons. The 28-year-old England striker of Nigerian heritage completed his brace in the 70th minute with an audacious scorpion kick, new signing Conor Gallagher providing the assist.

It was Solanke’s first set of league goals for the season having been out since the start of the season with an ankle injury. He had previously scored a goal in each of Tottenham’s final two Champions League league phase games against German sides Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt.


In other results on Sunday, Benjamin Sesko scored an added time winner as Manchester United blew a 2-0 lead against Fulham at Old Trafford before winning 3-2.

Burkina Faso foward Dango Ouattara scored the only goal as 10-man Brentford overcame Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park, while 10-man Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace, 2025 Africa Cup of Nations winner Ismaila Sarr netting from the penalty spot for Palace.
